Matt grew up in Southern California (try not to hold that against him!). The oldest of three, he was homeschooled until the 7th grade, during which time he trusted Jesus and gave his life to Him. In high school, Matt played Basketball and Volleyball and was very involved in various ministries. After high school, he moved to Colorado and became a Youth Pastor at the ripe old age of 19. A few years later, Matt attended Azusa Pacific University where he received his degree in Biblical Studies and, more importantly, met his better half, Annette. They moved to Annette’s hometown, Puyallup WA, and after struggling in his faith for a couple of years, became very involved in young adult ministry. During this time, Matt worked various jobs including as a waiter at the Space Needle, a substitute teacher, and a short stint as a firefighter. Matt became an Associate Pastor at Edgewood Bible Church, Annette’s home church, in 2011. Matt, Annette, and their four children were called down to Vancouver, WA in 2015 to serve at Evergreen Bible Church. While there as Associate Pastor, Matt was readied for Senior Pastor ministry and was called to Keyport in May 2021. Matt and Annette are extremely blessed with six beautifully boisterous children and currently spend most of their evenings/Saturdays, watching/transporting to Little League. Matt is “stoked” to be at KBC and is praying for the type of supernatural/transformational ministry that can only be done with the help of God’s Holy Spirit, on behalf of our Lord Jesus Christ, to the glory of God the Father!
Jonathan Morris has been married (extremely happily) to Brooke since 2016. They enjoy any activity that is outside including hiking, camping, fishing, hammocking and love to be competitive and slightly goofy at times, ok more than slightly. They have a multi-closet collection of board games and enjoy having people over for good food, tons of laughter, and some games. Jonathan and Brooke are both extremely passionate about youth ministry and mentoring and encouraging students through real relationships with them, their families, and through fun! Jonathan has been in youth ministry since 2014 and absolutely loves it! God used his own youth pastor in high school to impact him in a huge way and his desire is to pass on that same love, intentionality, and real friendship to those God has placed at Keyport Youth. God's unconditional love is what motivates him on a daily basis and causes him to want to share with students the truth that they are known fully and loved immensely by the God of the universe. Jonathan is so excited to see God at work at KBC through the volunteers, students and their families and is always open for some good coffee (preferably a single origin Ethiopia pour over) and great, genuine conversation.
Mike Chinn has been a Pastor at Keyport Bible Church in Keyport Washington, since 2001. He is assisted in his ministry by his wife of 41 years, Carolyn. They have three grown children: Marcus, Diana and Andrew. Mike became a follower of Jesus Christ in 1979 at the age of 27. In 1985, Mike took his first short-term mission trip to the Philippines with Christ for Greater Manila under the direction of Doug Nichols. This trip would have a profound influence on the rest of Mike’s life. The Lord gave Mike the opportunity to enter into full-time ministry in 1989. Leaving a law career, Mike began to serve as a youth intern for Independent Bible Church in Port Angeles, Washington. By God’s grace he was able to receive academic training while He was involved in church ministry. He continued to minister at IBC as an associate pastor for another 5 years, serving in the areas of evangelism, Christian education and Shepherd’s care. In 1996, Mike and his family answered the Lord’s call to be missionaries in Poland. After 6 years of ministering in Northwest Poland, Mike returned to the States because of health problems. He then assumed the senior pastor role at Keyport.
